About The Designer
I’m Victoria Kakuktinniq, an Inuk designer from Rankin Inlet, Nunavut. I grew up in a place where sewing isn’t just a skill, it’s part of everyday life. It’s how we stay warm, how we take care of each other, and how knowledge is passed down. I learned through culture first, by watching and doing, understanding that every stitch has a purpose and every material carries meaning. In the North, clothing is survival, and that stays with me in everything I create. I started making parkas because I wanted something that felt like me, something rooted in where I come from but open to expression and individuality.
Victoria’s Arctic Fashion grew from that place. My designs are inspired by traditional Inuit clothing, like the amauti, and I approach that work with respect, not reinvention. I bring in modern structure and silhouettes, while keeping the heart of the garment grounded in culture. As the brand grows, parts of production happen outside Nunavut, but the work always comes back home. The finishing, the fur, the final touches are done here, by Inuit hands. This is about more than fashion. It’s about creating space for Inuit design and for people to feel strong, connected, and proud in what they wear.

I learned to sew from the women before me, especially my grandmother. In Inuit culture, sewing isn’t optional, it’s how we survive, how we keep our families warm. Every piece I create carries that knowledge forward, shaped by generations of care and strength.
The Nuna (Land) shapes everything.
The land teaches you how to see. The textures, the movement, the colours, the way things are built to endure , it all comes from the Nuna. My designs are guided by what surrounds me in the Arctic, not trends, but what has always been here.
Community at the Core.
For me, this work has never been about individual success. It’s about making my family proud, supporting my community, and creating opportunities for others. Everything I build through this brand is meant to give back and keep our culture strong.
